Simon Andalib
Associate Coach
Simon’s
love for cycling began when he moved to Marin County from England
about 20 years ago. As his primary form of transportation to and
from work, cycling quickly became a passion that evolved into mountain
bike racing. Simon climbed his way up the hills and advanced from
beginner to the expert level before he transitioned to road racing.
After racing for about six years on the road in category three,
including the Masters level, he gave up his own racing career and
poured his heart into coaching an amateur female team. With multiple
wins and top five finishes, this team quickly made a name for themselves
as Simon warmed them up at criteriums, feed them at the feed zones
in long road races and celebrated with them upon their victories.
Simon was hooked; coaching had become his true delight.
Simon has since coached cyclists at all levels, from beginners learning
how to use different riding efficiencies to complete a century,
to intermediate riders wishing to learn techniques for group riding,
to advanced riders wanting to improve their racing technique and
strategy. He is genuine and encouraging in his approach, enforces
safety continuously and keeps a well-balanced sense of English humor
in his instruction.
Simon has a special knack for newer riders. Through his nurturing
personality, he sees potential and builds confidence in those who
are new to the sport very quickly. Simon is a USA Cycling Club-Level
Certified Coach.
Simon works in the Solar Energy industry and enjoys spending time
at home creating a self-sustaining garden full of herbs, fruits
and vegetables. He lives in Fairfax with his wife and crazy cat
named Hats.
